    Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

Reflecting the Beauty of Jesus from the book of James

    The Fairest of Them All

Many times a day we look into the mirror to see if we have bed head, lipstick on our teeth, mascara on our cheek, or all of the above. A quick glance at our reflection gives us a general idea of the way we are presenting ourselves to the world. As believers we want to develop the spiritual discipline of looking intently into the Word of God. When we begin to abide in the truth of the Word, we will see our image becoming conformed to the image of Jesus Christ, the Fairest of Them All.

    Taming the Shrew

James describes the tongue in vivid terms. He says it is set on fire by hell. It is as a restless evil that is full of deadly poison. The tongue is a small part but it defiles the entire body. All of us stumble in our choice of words. Who does not regret a cruel word spoken out of frustration or blurted out in anger? Can this common malady be managed? James gives us several practical ways to control the tongue and use our speech for God´s glory. As we learn to walk in obedience to the Holy Spirit, we can Tame the Shrew and we can speak words of grace seasoned with salt.

    Behave Yourself

How many times have you admonished a child to behave? James gently urges all believers to behave in a manner that is pleasing to the Lord. Too often our reality does not measure up to our theology. Inconsistencies in our Christian life need to be identified and addressed. James´ practical approach to a consecrated lifestyle will serve to instruct and inspire you to Behave Yourself.
